'This is the inaugural vintage of the Thousand Candles Project, which was run mainly by William Downie and Stuart Proud, but also saw contributions from Patrick Sullivan. The wine, a blend of Shiraz, Pinot Noir and Sauvignon Blanc, is one of the most daring releases of current times. From a colder, wetter vineyard, the wine saw 100% whole bunches in fermenation, which has created aromas of wet earth, green herbs, sap and a certain dustiness. The body is quite light, with a silky mouth-feel and Nebbiolo-esque berried and earthen flavours with green twigs.' AWC
