2 x Jamsheed Beechworth Syrah 2014 - This comes from the iconic Warner vineyard in Beechworth - probably the most esteemed vineyard in the country. The 2014 was a wet and cool vintage, but as a whole the wine is delicate and soft, speaking of its terroir with ease. Aromas of cured meat and jam, and a savoury palate of bramble fruits and dark cherries.
2 x Jamsheed 'Garden Gully' Great Western Syrah 2015 - Coming from a vineyard of 120 year old vines. 100% whole bunches were used during the ferment, though you'd swear it was much lower - there is no overt herby sappiness at all. This is dark and smooth, with a medium body and great structure. Red berries, wild herbs and licquorice flavours all wrapped up in silken tannins.
2 x Jamsheed 'Seville' Yarra Valley Syrah 2015 - From the Syme on Yarra Vineyard, and again a subtle use of whole bunches. The winemaking specs, when you read them, indicate that this will be a delicate wine, but this is a wine of power. Depth of colour and flavour, which dark cherries, berries, spice and chestnut, which roll around the mouth. It's no Barossa, though, and the wine retains its elegance. Highly recommended.
