It rises to power on the back of meaty, weighty, black cherried fruit flavour, though notes of dried spice, smoky oak and tangy cranberry certainly contribute to the ascension. Ropes of tannin are the parliament in which the flavour cavorts. The outstanding form of this wine continues. 96 points.'
Kooyong Single Vineyard Meres Pinot Noir 2014
This turns the screws on quality. It's firm and varietally rich with meat, spice, black cherry and volleys of undergrowth and assorted earth notes. It's like it's been borne up out of the ground. It's savoury, smoky and sweet-fruited though in the end it's nothing but itself. 96 points.'
Kooyong Single Vineyard Ferrous Pinot Noir 2014
Super tight and structural with gun smoke, flint, dry cherry and sinewy herb notes striking a distinctive pose through the palate. Controlled reduction is a key part of the wine's make-up. So too tannin and acid. So too a charm of its own design. 96 points.'
