Viognier, Marsanne and Roussanne have all achieved success in several regions across Australia, as much as varietal wines and as blends using up to all three grapes.Italian varieties such as Vermentino, Fiano, Friulano and Zibibbo continue to evolve and can produce compelling wines especially in the hands of some of the more adventurous winemakers.

'Fiano has taken off in this country. Originally from Campania in Italy, it takes to the Australian climate well. Musk Lane have made this wine with minimal intervention, and it is unfined and unfiltered (read: vegan friendly). This is not one of the more textural Fiano's like you may have had from Unico Zelo, but a more focused style. Grapefruit pith and lemon leaves on the nose, with honeyed nuts and white blossoms on the palate, with fresh herbs too. It's got great acidity which will make your mouth water. This, like a lot of Fianos out there, is great food wine.' AWC
