Semillon

Semillon

Semillon from the Hunter Valley is one of Australia’s most definitive, evocative and age worthy wines. Traditionally picked very early in the season - to retain natural acidity – the best examples are capable of cellaring for up to twenty years over which time they gain weight and build wonderful complexity. The Barossa Valley and Margaret River can also produce excellent wine, albeit a different expression.

'Levantine Hill is one of the biggest developments in Yarra Valley history. The focus is, as it should be, on quality fruit sourced from unique parcels. Additionally, the chief winemaker is Paul Bridgeman, who was the direct winemaking descendant of Bailey Carrodus at Yarra Yering. There is a lot of pedigree, and a lot to keep your eye on, with this winery. This SBS is little bit different from the lighter, more delicate styles coming from the Yarra. Dill and thyme, with grapefruit and a chalky texture, which is only enhanced by the time spend in oak during fermentation.' AWC
