We get it - really. Sometimes you just need a cheap and cheerful wine to get you through the day, or week, or some prolonged isolation which may or may not be voluntary. We are here to help. We've always had a fondness for wines which punch well above their weight, and here is a mixed case of some of our favourite value for money wines.
2 x Calabria Vermentino 2017
An Italian variety, originally from Sicily, which is suited to Australia's hot and dry climate. This is super refreshing, with subtle lemongrass, citrus and tropical fruit flavours, and a thirst crushing river-water quality that will keep you coming back for more.
2 x Burns and Fuller Chardonnay 2019
Chardonnay definitely fell out of favour, but it is back in a big way. This is great way to reintroduce yourself to the style - it is a delicate and pristine Chardonnay, without the lashings of oak which turned people away. We've definitely drunk more than our fair share of this one.
2 x Twill and Daisy Rose 2019
Made from Nero d'Avola. I firmly believe that Italian grapes make excellent rose - they seem to have a little bit more texture and flavour. This is all strawberry and watermelon, with a perfume of red blossoms. Pretty name, pretty wine.
2 x Calabria Nero d'Avola 2018
Try it as a rose, now try is as a red! Juicy dark fruits and dried herbs, with mellow tannins and great length. Put this with some food and watch it disappear. We wholeheartedly recommend it with those textbook Italian meals - tomato works so well with this!
2 x Little Giant Shiraz 2018
From a great winemaker, who seems to have the golden touch when it comes to great wines at affordable prices. This is a textbook Barossa Shiraz - a powerful and brooding wine, with dark plums and cherries balanced by dark chocolate and savoury tannin. Delish!
2 x Redbank Emily Sparkling Cuvee NV
Not only do you get a lot of winemaking and quality here, you get a great easy drinking bubbles which is flavoursome enough to pair with food and fresh enough to drink on it's own. Underripe strawberries, fresh citrus and delicate nuttiness - what more could you want?
