Shiraz and Syrah

Australia’s signature grape variety. Grown in almost all of the 60 wine regions across the country, different climates, soils, topography and winemaking influence naturally contribute to vastly different expressions and styles...Vive la différence!

Cabernet Sauvignon and blends

Most of Australia’s best cabernet is grown in the maritime climate of Margaret River and on Coonawarra’s famed terra rossa soils. It can also excel in the Yarra Valley, Great Southern and as far south as Tasmania.

Grenache and blends

The McLaren Vale and Barossa Valley are home to some of the oldest plots of Grenache in the world. This is a variety that continues to undergo constant refinement, where the ‘less is more' approach tends to yield the best results.

Pinot Noir

An increased understanding of clones and site selection, combined with more sensitive winemaking has started to yield some truly beautiful wines. As with all pinot noir, selection is key and styles vary – the most consistent regions are the Mornington Peninsula, Yarra Valley and Tasmania, however, the Macedon Ranges, Gippsland and Geelong also do well.

Other reds

Sangiovese, Nebbiolo, Barbera, Sagrantino, Aglianico, Malbec, Tempranillo and Nero d’Avola are all planted and many of these have found a home here, albeit with varying degrees of success. The best examples, however, point toward a bright future.
