Kaesler Old Bastard Shiraz 2022

The Kaesler ‘Old Bastard’ Barossa Shiraz is arguably one of Australia’s most highly regarded wines. The name refers to a small number of ‘old bastards’ – gnarly old bush vines planted in 1893, which form the heart of the Kaesler brand.
2022 Old Bastard
Winemaking: Picked on March 20th following a perfect ripening period, the fruit arrived with excellent flavour concentration. The parcels were fermented on skins for 9 days, allowing for gentle extraction of colour, structure and depth, before being pressed and transferred to oak where it matured for 18 months.
Appearance: Bright medium-deep crimson with a purple hue.
Bouquet: Lifted plum, blueberry and pepper, some earth and a hint of charry oak in the background.
Palate: Incredibly intense and rich with blue/black fruits, so youthful with a fine acid structure ensuring a long life ahead.
