Pare Trott Vineyard Grenache 2024 is a new addition to the Pare Grenache line up. Situated in the Blewitt Springs sub region, the dry grown 1952 planted Trott vineyard is, in Winemaker Ansel Ashby’s words ‘’an iconic Blewitt Springs vineyard, making some of the best Grenache, in my opinion, in McLaren Vale. It’s a bit unusual in Blewitt Springs, in that the soil isn’t pure maslin sand, but has some loam mixed in. It’s also eastern facing which helps with temperature regulation during the summer, getting morning sunlight, but is a little bit cooler in the hottest parts of the day. We’ve been interested in the Trott Vineyard from the beginning; unfortunately, sourcing fruit from it can be challenging. There are many winemakers who would jump at the chance to work with fruit from the Trott vineyard. The wine itself has ‘’power with elegance or perhaps balance. It’s a big, generous, fruit driven wine, and yet it remains, fresh, bright, lithe on its feet. It’s something few vineyards can achieve.’’
