Two Hands Ares Shiraz 2014

Two Hands was founded in 1999 with a mission to showcase the diversity of Australian shiraz to the world. They are shiraz specialists, producing shiraz from 6 different Australian regions and 6 single vineyards. Owner of 100 acres of vineyard in Barossa’s Western Ranges planted to 11 different clones and 22 different blocks monitored with cutting-edge sap-flow monitoring technology that has reduced water use by almost 50% since implementation. Traditional winemaking approach, allowing the fruit to be the hero. Barrel classification process is implemented with team rating wines in barrel from C to A++. French oak is used exclusively.
The winery flagship Two Hands Ares is a 100% Shiraz blended from a small number of the some 1500 barrels that result from any given vintage at the Barossa based winery.  The Two Hands team rigorously appraise each barrel with only the very best examples making their way to the Ares Shiraz.
Two Hands Ares is unmistakably full bodied yet it carries it’s stature with an energy and poise that makes it one of the great Australian reds.
Tasting Note: Saturated to the core, Ares delivers a wall of flavour across the palate with notes of blackberry, baking spices, lavender oil, scorched earth, coal dust, and high cocoa, dark chocolate emerging at every turn. Depth and nuance in a large framework, thick and bold tannins screech across the mid-palate and pull the wine through to an incredibly long finish laced with detail, created by notes of black cracked pepper, expresso shot, and coal dust.
