”The Old Hut Vineyard was planted in 2002 using vine cuttings from the 4 Acres Vineyard, which is situated right next door. It features the same deep red clay soils over limestone, ideal for growing super-premium Hunter Valley Shiraz.
The grapes were harvested by machine during the early hours of February 21, when the fruit was at its coldest, before fermentation took place in stainless-steel tanks. After fermentation, the wine was matured in two older French oak casks (2700L) for 14 months.
Dense in colour; red with a purple hue. A complex nose of raspberry and dried herbs; cloves, sage, oregano and a hint of liquorice. Textural from the front to the back palate with notes of mixed berries and savoury complexity. Generous and round in shape.” Tyrrell’s
